Tariq “48 Riqq” Edwards is a Charlotte-based DJ and producer with roots that run deep—from Syracuse basements to Southern club floors. Known for his electric sets, airtight transitions, and producer instincts, Riqq brings both precision and pulse to everything he touches. What started at 12 with beat-making became a full-fledged DJ career by 17, and by 18 he was soundtracking parties, concerts, and family functions across upstate New York.
A proud graduate of Jamesville-DeWitt High School, Riqq later attended Johnson C. Smith University, where he studied Interdisciplinary Studies and left his mark as Mr. Freshman and a member of the Royal Court. But it was behind the decks where he truly reigned—quickly becoming the go-to DJ for campus events and Charlotte’s college circuit.
Since landing in Charlotte, Riqq has emerged as a staple of the city’s nightlife. During the pandemic’s uncertainty, when most DJs paused, he doubled down—becoming one of the most sought-after names in the city. From Imperial and Encore to Hive, Compound, and beyond, his name’s become synonymous with a guaranteed good time.
In the studio, Riqq’s production credits span artists like Seth Dollar, Leekindacut, Mylestone, and Lil 3, with beats that bridge the gap between underground grit and club polish. He’s also a founding member of Children Of The Summer, the multidisciplinary collective pushing creative boundaries across sound, style, and storytelling.
With festival appearances like Up The Smoke, and sets supporting acts like Kodak Black, G Herbo, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and JT of City Girls, 48 Riqq is building more than a résumé—he’s building a legacy. On stage or in the lab, he’s not just moving crowds—he’s moving the culture forward.
